MoCo CAP empowers Montgomery County students in grades 6–12 to build the skills and confidence to navigate their careers—for life.
Led by WorkSource Montgomery in partnership with Montgomery County Public Schools and Montgomery College, the Montgomery County Career Advising Program addresses the College & Career Readiness (CCR) pillar of the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future. We guide students to explore their strengths, interests, and values; set goals; and discover a wide range of post-secondary options.
Through dedicated Career Advising Coaches in every middle, high, and special school, students learn to advocate for themselves and connect learning to real-world opportunities—like internships, apprenticeships, industry chats, and career labs. Coaches also partner with educators to integrate career awareness into the classroom, using the RIASEC framework (Realistic, Investigative, Artistic, Social, Enterprising, Conventional) to help each student chart a meaningful and viable career path.
