Career Day at Rock Terrace School
Rockville, December 2025
Rock Terrace School hosted its first MoCo CAP Career Day with more than a dozen professionals and nearly 70 students participating. From learning how to stock a grocery store shelf and sort recycling to selling the perfect running shoe and customizing their own T-shirts, the students got to see first-hand some of the many career opportunities available to them following graduation from the public day school which provides special education services for students aged 11-21 years old with a wide range of cognitive disabilities.
Walter Johnson High School Visit to U.S. Capitol

More than 30 Walter Johnson High School students toured the United States Capitol and several Senate buildings to get a first-hand look at how the legislative branch of the federal government operates behind the scenes. The tour included visiting the Hart and Dirksen Senate Office buildings, the Capitol rotunda, the Old Supreme Court Chamber, and the Crypt, among other historical locations.
The day ended with a Q&A session and group photo with Maryland Senator Chris Van Hollen, a major highlight for the students.
RIASEC Summer Road Trip

These exciting 1- to 3-day camps helped MCPS students strengthen essential soft skills and explore high-demand industries through interactive sessions and hands-on activities and experiences designed and lead by MoCo CAP’s very own Career Coaches. Students were introduced to career pathways and CTE (Career and Technical Education) programs that can help them build job-ready skills before graduating high school.
In total, 18 MCPS middle school sites participated, including Tilden, White Oak, North Bethesda, MLK, Montgomery Village, Shady Grove, and Rosa Parks.
MCCEI Maryland Construction Day 2025

MoCo CAP accompanied several MCPS students to the Maryland Center for Construction Education and Innovation (MCCEI)’s 4th annual Maryland Construction Career Day. More than 35 companies and 100+ volunteers showcased career exploration opportunities in the construction industry through hands-on exhibits and resources. Over 800 students attended, gaining exposure to non-traditional educational pathways.
Worlds of Work (WoW) 2025
Montgomery College Rockville Campus, March 2025
WorkSource Montgomery (WSM), Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS), and Montgomery College (MC) hosted ~2,500 eighth-grade students at the inaugural MoCo CAP Worlds of Work (WoW) experience. Over three days, students engaged directly with more than 175 employers and businesses representing six “worlds” across MC Rockville’s campus, gaining first-hand insights into a wide range of industries.
Meet A Pro 6th Grade Industry Panel
Rocky Hill Middle School, May 2024
MoCo CAP hosted its first industry engagement panel for 6th-grade students, moderated by two Rocky Hill students and built around questions submitted by MCPS middle schoolers countywide. Panelists included Sydney Pinkard (Future Employee Initiatives Coordinator, MCPS), Jamie Carmen (President, Atlantic Coastal Cooling & Heating), Vickie Dols (President/Owner, M.R. Electricians), and Dr. Subbu Krishnan (Chief Science Strategist, Henry M. Jackson Foundation).
