MoCo CAP ensures every Montgomery County student in grades 6–12 has the guidance, skills, and opportunities to shape their own career path.
We help students build lifelong career management skills through evidence-based programming that we continuously refine using student engagement data.
Measurable Outcomes
Aligned with the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future, our 10-year plan focuses on:

- Students On-Track to Graduate: More students across all groups enter kindergarten ready to stay on track, graduate on time, and move on to college, training, or well-paying jobs.
- High Graduation Rates: Nearly all Maryland students graduate College and Career Ready (CCR).
- Closing the Achievement Gap: Achievement gaps narrow or disappear across all grades, student groups, schools, and districts.
- Pathway Completion: Equitable participation grows in post-CCR pathways, with 45% of high school graduates earning an industry credential or completing a registered apprenticeship.
- Reduced Remediation: Fewer college students need to retake high school-level courses across all student groups and colleges.
Serving All Students
Montgomery County is one of the most diverse counties in the nation, with more than 150 languages spoken. MoCo CAP serves every MCPS student at the middle- and high-school level, with a strong focus on supporting underserved populations.

This includes:
- Students in district special schools.
- Students participating in Career and Technical Education (CTE) away from their home school.
- Early College and Dual Enrollment students who remain enrolled at MCPS while attending classes exclusively at Montgomery College.
- Students at the MCPS Welcome (Newcomer) Center, which provides transition support for students new to the district. The assigned Career Advising Coach offers tailored career advising in multiple languages, connects students to the coach at their home school, supports community events, and co-leads gatherings for Emergent Multilingual Learners.
All MoCo CAP Career Coaches have access to live translation tools to ensure language is never a barrier to career advising services.
