Dear School Leaders,
We are excited to forge this partnership between Montgomery County Public Schools and WorkSource Montgomery (WSM) to supply college and career advisement in your school! This initiative is named MoCo CAP (Montgomery County Career Advising Program). The goal of the project is to offer an additional collaborative hand to support the college and career readiness needs of students in your school as we strive towards and build alignment with the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future. We look forward to serving students alongside you and your staff.

Summary
As part of Montgomery County Public Schools collective work to implement The Blueprint for
Maryland’s Future, and in alignment with the academic milestones, competencies, and experiences
within The Pathway to College, Career, and Community Readiness (CCCR), all Grade 9 students
will have the opportunity to participate in an in-person or virtual college tour. This experience will
support our Career Advising initiative, and assist students in making more informed decisions about
their postsecondary plans and further their development toward CCCR.
Background
Central office staff established partnerships with multiple colleges and universities in the region.
During the second semester, students will have the opportunity to visit a local college campus or
engage in a virtual tour. High schools have been matched with field trip opportunities based on tour availability and proximity to the college/university campus. Career advising coaches and/or cluster leads will work with school-based career advising champion teams, and the principal’s designee, to coordinate and organize the in-person college tour.
